My Tortilla Pizza Recipe
Do your kids just LOVE pizza? Mine too! The issue is that they want pizza ALL THE TIME and they want it QUICKLY…So, what’s a mama to do? My solution is my quick and easy tortilla pizza recipe. It checks all of the boxes for me: quick, easy, pretty healthy and a kid fave!
I threw this together once out of desperation, but it ended up being a hit! I make it for lunch, dinner and sometimes even picnics/packed lunches. These days I always make sure I have the basic supplies for these pizzas stocked and ready. The best part about these pizzas is that they are totally customizable for each kid. Whether they only like cheese or like a bit of spinach or like all the veggies (lucky you!), they will like this…
Here are the basic supplies for these awesome little pizzas: tortillas (whole wheat or regular), pizza sauce (homemade or store bought), fresh mozzarella, parmesan cheese and any other toppings you like. Before I get to the actual recipe, I have a few tips for each ingredient.
Ingredient Tips
Tortilla/Pizza Base: Regular flour tortillas get the most crispy when baked, but I often use whole wheat to be a little healthier. Another option I use sometimes is whole wheat pita. If you opt for the pita, I would just recommend baking it for a few minutes before topping so it doesn’t get soggy.
Pizza Sauce: I hate that most pizza sauces have added sugar, so I like to make my own sauce. However, that sort of defeats the purpose of a super quick meal, right? Luckily, I realized that Whole Foods and Good Eggs both sell a fresh pizza sauce! I pretty much buy a container of it every week now… If you don’t have either of these in your area though, there are jarred sauces that have no added sugars. You just have to check the ingredients when you’re shopping.
Mozzarella: I really like the perlini mozzarella because I can just put the individual balls right on the pizza. You can use whichever mozzarella you prefer though! In the photos, i just ripped pieces from a large ball of mozzarella and went for it.
Parmesan: The parmesan is completely optional, but we love it. Shredded is best, but I’ve used the crumbled one too and it works fine.
Other Toppings: My kids usually only want cheese on theirs, so I’ll serve it with fruits and veggies on the side. Sometimes, they’ll ask for spinach (yay!). When I’m making my own though, I love corn, mushrooms, peppers and onions. You just need to be careful not to pile on too many toppings as everything will fall off!

Step-by-Step Tortilla Pizza Recipe
Easy Tortilla Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 Tortilla
- 1 tbsp Pizza sauce
- 1 handful Mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese
- Any additional toppings you like
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450° F.
- While oven is preheating, spray baking tray with cooking spray.
- Place tortilla on the tray.
- Add sauce. You can add more or less than suggested, but keep in mind that the tortilla will get soggy if you add too much liquid.
- Add mozzarella cheese. Use more or less, depending on how much cheese you like.
- Add parmesan cheese.
- Add any other toppings you like.
- Once you have finished topping your pizza, place tray into preheated oven for about 5 minutes (or until cheese has melted).
- I like to switch my oven over to broil after this to get some extra crispiness, but this step is optional. I usually do this for around 1 minute, but keep a close eye on it to make sure it isn't burning.
- That's all! Slice up and serve.
How to Serve the Tortilla Pizzas
See, I told you this was a recipe for quick and easy pizza! I usually serve it up in slices with some cut up fruit or broccoli to add some balance to the meal. Another great thing to keep in mind is that this “pizza” keeps its form really well even when stored.
If I need to pack a lunch for a family outing, I’ll usually make a few of these in the morning and take it with us. The kids are always happy to pull out pizza at our picnics! I really hope your kids enjoy this easy tortilla pizza recipe as much as mine do!

These look delicious! I love quick and easy, and this is a fun spin on pizza! Can’t wait to make this for my kids!
Yummy! I’m definitely going to try this today
My children loved making their own pizza when they were younger. We also would make our own tostadas. They are fun too. A tostada is a like a flat taco shell. We would have a variety of meat to choose from like chicken, pork, or ground beef. You can even use shrimp. We would spread refried beans on the bottom then just build it up like a taco. It was great!
This is a great idea! Sometimes pizza crust is hard for toddlers to eat because it’s so hard. I love it!
I love this idea! I used to call them “taco pizzas” when I was little! I have yet to try these with my kids! it will be on my list!! Thanks!
I have been making these for years. They saved the night once when I was babysitting and the local pizza place refused to deliver to the house. The kids loved them and the parents were impressed. Definitely recommend!
My kids love pizza and I love that it’s easy! Thanks for the idea to use tortillas!
